Design Week

Three "Design for Good" events (September 21, 24 & 28)

AIGA Toledo has led the effort to create three spectacular events to celebrate design and bring us together as a community to trigger social change.

You won't want to miss them! All events are FREE.
Monday, September 21, 6:30pm
Owens Community College, Center for Fine and Performing Arts

Kate Hunt will kick off Design Week with stories about AIGA's Design for Good movement and how she helped apply it in West Michigan.

Dan Klyn will make us think about "What Good Means" as he weaves together digital and built-environment architecture concepts. If Dan sounds fascinating, hang out with him before his talk.

In this Call to Action, both of these dynamic speakers will inspire you and help you connect to your purpose.
Thursday, September 24, 7pm
Toledo Museum of Art, GlasSalon

Design Briefs will be an interactive design workshop to explore challenges for local businesses.
  • Business owners and entrepreneurs will present their story along with a specific business challenge
  • A panel of design and business professionals will offer feedback
  • Attendees will then participate in facilitated break-out sessions for each challenge
You will have fun in the design sessions, get to help the entrepreneurs, and you might even learn something along the way.
Monday, September 28, 6:30pm
BGSU Wolfe Center for the Arts, Donnell Theater

Doug Powell will talk about Design at Scale: how design is transforming IBM and how the role of a designer is changing in technology, business and society.

While he was AIGA national president, Doug helped launch the Design for Good movement. He can help ignite design-driven social change in our community. Doug's talk will also show business leaders how IBM is creating a culture of design to improve its product and service experiences.

Design Week Organizers

I have been lucky to be able to work with following organizations to help make Design Week happen. Please support them! Please thank them for all of the hard work they are putting in to create activities for the User Experience community (and others) in the Toledo Region.
