UX update for March and beyond

This month

• Wednesday (today, 6pm) March 2 is the AIGA Toledo Annual Member Meeting. Everyone is invited to tour their new meeting space in downtown Toledo and learn what else AIGA has in store this year (such as Sit&Tell and Portfolio Review Day).
• Tuesday, March 8 (6pm): Agile project management talk at Hanson, by PMI WLEC. UXer's welcome!
• Wednesday, March 9 (6pm): Toledo Web Professionals mini-workshop on React.
• Tuesday, March 15: Road trip to Ann Arbor for Ignite UX Michigan. Contact me if you want to carpool.
• Wednesday, March 16 (10:30am): SharePoint User Group meeting. Hang out with NWSPUG in March to get ready for a special show for UXers in June (see below).

April

• Tuesday, April 12 (evening): Darren Kall, UX consultant from Dayton, will be doing a talk about software development & user empathy at BGSU. Parking will not be a problem! Hang out with some students and enjoy Darren's presentation.
• Thursday, April 21 (evening): Another installment of Design Briefs at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Summer

• If you are a Design Educator, you probably already know about the AIGA Nuts+Bolts conference taking place at BGSU from June 15-16.
• If you are not going to Nuts+Bolts, then save June 15th for a NWSPUG meeting. Their lunch meeting this summer will feature a special UX speaker from out of town that you will not want to miss! Tell your boss now that you will be away from the office from 10:30am - 1:30pm on 6/15.
• The REALLY BIG design event of the summer is the IDSA International conference in Detroit, August 17-20. Industrial Designers from around the world will converge on Detroit, which was recently named the first US "City of Design". User Experience will be a big part of the program. It will be expensive, so submit your corporate training budget application now. But with a short drive to Detroit, it will be a much better value than flying to a coast for a conference.
